Microsoft's own resolution steps: open Command Prompt as Administrator and run:
cd %ProgramFiles%\Windows DefenderMpCmdRun.exe -removedefinitions -dynamicsignaturesMpCmdRun.exe -SignatureUpdate
This only refreshes Defender's detection cache, it doesn't disable real-time protection.
Antivirus / Trojan Flag Warning: Windows Defender or third-party antivirus software may flag the setup executable as a "Trojan" or false positive.
Why is it flagged as a Trojan?
Network Activity: The receiver uses local network sockets to receive steering data over Wi-Fi and performs automatic update checks. Heuristic scanners often misclassify active background networking as suspicious.
Missing EV Certificate: As an indie developer, an expensive commercial EV Code-Signing Certificate ($300–$500+/year) is out of budget. Unsigned executable network tools default to generic warnings.

How to Allow/Unblock in Windows Defender (Fastest Fix):
Open Windows Security from the Start Menu.
Go to Virus & threat protection → Protection history.
Find the blocked item for VSteerReceiver, click Actions, and select Allow on device (or Restore).
